Full Tilt Poker Deal Unlikely According To Glantz

Full Tilt Poker Deal Unlikely According To GlantzEarlier this year, former financial trader turned poker professional Matt Glantz correctly predicted that the Full Tilt/Bernard Tapie deal would fall through. At the time, Glantz’s received plenty of criticism for his rather pessimistic prediction and as he explains:
“Some FTP shareholders told me “to keep your mouth shut; you don’t know what you are talking about; you are bad for poker; Tapie is the real thing – it’s a done deal.” Well, several weeks later, as expected, the Tapie illusion began to unravel publicly.”
A few months on, and the Pennsylvania pro has been at it again this time envisioning a major obstacle standing in the way between a possible  Full Tilt deal between PokerStars and the US Department of Justice. In his article on Cardplayer, Matt Glantz believes the DoJ cannot meet the PokerStars demand to allow them to operate legally in the U.S. as Caesars (Harrahs) has a major presence in the ‘gambling’ states and so would be keen to shut out competition, especially from a multi-billion dollar online gaming giant like PokerStars. As Glantz explains:
“Caesars is obviously prepared for this future and they can plainly see the difference between a PokerStars involved U.S. online market and a non-PokerStars U.S. online market. One is which Caesars would surely dominate.”
In other words, although the DoJ can agree to allow PokerStars to operate legally in the States, it would have no power to insist individual states allow the company to operate within their own jurisdictions.
Matt Glantz then ends his piece by explaining that Full Tilt shareholders that have been vocal against him in the past have no useful information on the subject as they are no longer part of the loop. As he concludes:
“At the time of me writing this, one major shareholder has specifically told me to my face, “It is a done deal with PokerStars and was supposed to be completed last week but had to be pushed pack for..blah blah blah.”. I hope he is correct. But unfortunately in my mind it is only hope and nothing else.
