PokerStars Operates 4 Of The Top 10 Ranked Online Poker Rooms
January 1, 2014 12:21 pmThe last week of 2013 saw the top five poker sites from the previous week retain their relative positions, with PokerStars around ten times bigger than its nearest rivals reporting an average of 23,000 weekly cash game players. Coming in second was 888poker (2,700), followed by the iPoker Network (2,600), Full Tilt Poker (2,500), and then PartyPoker (2,100).
However, the bottom end of the top ten saw quite a bit of movement after Microgaming’s MPN was ousted from 10th to 12th place following Ladbrokes’ defection to the iPoker Network, resulting in a 100 fewer average weekly cash game players for MPN. Bodog/Bovada also found itself dropping from eighth to ninth place as Winamax outpaced the estimated player traffic at Bodog by around 100 players.
Finally, PokerStars.fr retained its previous 10th place tied position with MPN from last week, and impressively, PokerStars currently operates four of the industry’s top ten leading poker sites, which includes PokerStars (1st), PokerStars.it (6th), PokerStars.es (7th) and PokerStars.fr (10th).
Turning our attention across the Atlantic, USA’s biggest legalized online gambling market, New Jersey, announced that the number of accounts being created in the state has continued to rise since the first site opened its virtual doors on November 26th. However, the first three weeks of operations produced the most impressive growth resulting in 50,000 customers, with a further 75,000 players being added over the following three weeks.
New Jersey’s latest results are carefully being studied by other potential operators in the US, who are eager to join the online gambling gravy train, bit in the meantime are viewing New Jersey as a test case.
