Floyd Mayweather Now Promoting Wild Poker App
November 22, 2017 1:12 pmFloyd Mayweather, one of the world’s most famous athletes, has decided to thrown his weight behind a popular mobile game called Wild Poker. The undefeated champion, who hung up his boxing gloves in August after defeating Conor McGregor, has now signed a six-figure deal to promote the product with its developer Playtrex and its publisher Hero Digital Entertainment.
The play-money poker app is marketed as a “social casino adventure game”, with its players able to choose from a range of different in-game animal characters, with Mayweather himself now thrown into the mix. Wild Poker originally had a beta release back in September of 2016, but having Mayweather promote the game is sure to take its popularity to a whole new level, especially considering he enjoys more than 50 million followers on social media.
After playing Wild Poker, Mayweather said that he instantly knew the game was a hit and was excited to put his face to the app. Elaborating further, Mayweather explained:
“I’m constantly asked to put my name on stuff, but Wild Poker is different than any game I’ve ever seen. It’s poker, but it goes to the next level. There’s a whole new level of strategy with the power ups. It’s a cutting edge game, this is that next thing, and like everything I put my name on, Wild Poker is the best ever.”
The game’s developer, Playtrex, is an Israeli based firm that was established by Daniel Kashmir in 2015. Commenting upon the addition of Mayweather as a brand promoter, Kashmir said that his signing demonstrated that the company was fully committed to providing a “fun and appealing” game experience that is unique compared to the other social casino games currently available.
In the past, Kashmir helped William Hill grow its online business, and going forward the Playtrex CEO will know precisely how to take Wild Poker from being a play money product to a fully monetized one. Meanwhile, Mayweather released a statement on behalf of his company called ONE Entertainment, stating that “merging the mobile gaming experience with Brand Mayweather was an organic fit,” and was part of its strategy to build a diverse, “entertainment-fueled portfolio post-fighting”.
