Adrian Mateos cashes $1.6 million at Caribbean Poker Party

Adrian Mateos Wins Caribbean Poker Event for $250k

Adrian Mateos put on a dominant showing in the Bahamas earlier this week with a pair of back-to-back wins at the Caribbean Poker Party.

Mateos’ first win came in the $25,000 MILLIONS Super High Roller. He outlasted a 125-player field in the high roller tournament to cash $520,464 after making a deal with heads-up opponent Brock Wilson.

Wilson actually pocketed $619,536 despite ending up with second place following a winner takes the tournament all-in flip between himself and Mateos

A few days later Mateos took home more than double that cash in the Caribbean Poker Party MILLIONS World Bahamas Main Event. The $10,300 buy-in tournament ended up with a field of 947 players. Mateos cash ended up being $1,162,805 after a deal was struck three-handed when only Mateos, Adam Van Blarcum and Chris Hunichen remained.

Even after the deal was made the three continued to play it out to determine the tournament champion. The first of the three remaining players to bow out was Hunichen, who, through the deal, earned $1,097,195.

When heads-play between Mateos and Van Blarcum began the two were nearly even in chips. That didn’t last long. Mateos won big and won often early to take a massive chip lead. Right before the end Mateos had just over a 6-to-1 chip lead over Van Blarcum with 814 million chips to Van Blarcum’s 134 million.

On the final hand Van Blarcum pushed all-in with 10-2 and Mateos made an easy call with J-9. After another nine hit on the flop that was all she wrote for Vam Blarcum, who through the earlier deal received $970,000.

The two big cashes in the Caribbean bumps Mateos’ career live-poker earnings up to just over $19 million. In 2019 Mateos has cashed just over $2.1 million, which is actually a down year for him after cashing $5.8 million in 2017 and $4.9 million in 2018.
