$1M Spin & Go Winner Takes Whole Winnings To Micro Cash Game

$1M Spin & Go Winner Takes Whole Winnings To Micro Cash GameThis week, Anthony “GrindHeaps” Aston became the 13th player this year to win a $1 million Spin & Go prize while playing at PokerStars. In the early hours of morning, the Australian player entered a $100 buy-in game, where he faced off against Ireland’s Gavin “gavonater” O’Rourke and the UK’s “EnglishGirl9” for the life-changing sum. Ten minutes later, and Aston defeated his fellow opponents to scoop the huge payout, although his vanquished foes did receive $100,000 apiece for participating.
Furthermore, while the 10 minutes the Spin & Go tournament took was not far off the record set by Canada’s “Koovoon” last month of 9 minutes and 37 seconds, the 33 hands it took to complete was a new record for the site.
Obviously overjoyed by his incredible win, Anthony Aston then decided to take his $1 million prize on a victory parade of PokerStars, and subsequently bought in at an unlimited buy-in $0.02/$0.04 cash game with the whole of his monstrous winnings. It’s fair to say that Aston’s garish action must have been greeted with incredulity by his fellow microstakes opponents considering they mostly had around one dollar a piece in front of them. After American poker commentator Joe Stapleton tweeted:
“Guy wins $1,000,000 Spin N Go and immediately sits at $0.02/$0.04 table to troll. Winner. (from @ZTunbridge)”
Alex Parry later responded to Stapleton’s tweet by writing:
“@Stapes @ZTunbridge About as ‘boss’ as a lottery winner driving through his shantytown in a gold car while pointing and laughing at everyone.”
According to the Hendon Mob, Anthony Aston has cashed in 10 live events in the $1,100 to $2,200 buy-in range since 2012, for which he has won $168,638. Aston’s biggest live cash was at the 2012 ANZPT Sydney Main Event, where he finished 3rd for A$80,214. Just over a month later, Aston once again made an ANZPT Perth Main Event, where he also finished in 3rd place for A$27,590.
