WSOP.com reportedly expanding player pool to Michigan
May 27, 2024 3:07 pmAccording to reports WSOP.com will soon be adding poker players in Michigan to their online player pool.
WSOP.com is scheduled to upgrade their software platforms in Nevada and New Jersey sometime in early May. WSOP.com currently offers shared player liquidity between the two states. Following the platform upgrade Michigan will reportedly be added to that shared player liquidity.
A story in Pokerfuse reported last week that a WSOP.com Online Circuit Series scheduled for May 11-22 will be open to players in all three states and share player liquidity.
Adding Michigan to their player pool would potentially give WSOP.com a sizeable boost in eligible players on their site. Michigan’s population is 10 million, which is larger than the 3.2 million in Nevada, and the 9.3 million in New Jersey.
The addition of Michigan to the player pool should also affect online events for the upcoming 2024 World Series of Poker. Online bracelet events for the 2024 WSOP are expected to be announced in May.
Once Michigan is onboard it’s expected that WSOP.com will next turn their eye toward adding Pennsylvania in the future. WSOP.com currently operates in Pennsylvania but only allow players located in the state because Pennsylvania is not yet a member of the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). Earlier this year Pennsylvania lawmakers introduced a bill to allow shared player liquidity with expectations to join the MSIGA.
WSOP.com was previously active in Delaware but closed down following a change in online gambling operators in the state.
