Massive $1 Million Bad Beat Jackpot Hit At UB.comMarch 3, 2011 9:55 am
Monday night one lucky player was celebrating his ‘bad luck’ after scooping the lion’s share of UB.com’s biggest ever Bad Beat Jackpot which had risen to a staggering $1,048,383.
The 37 year-old going by the screen name ‘ODESSA99’ hit a 4,165 to 1 long shot to make quad queens only to discover his opponent held four kings. However, ODESSA99’s disappointment soon turned to elation after realising he had secured for himself a $340,875 share of UB.com’s Bad Beat Jackpot.
The fateful hand occurred at 22:51 Monday night at a nine-handed cash table. ‘ODESSA99’ (Qs-Qc) was the small blind, ‘ROOSTER XXX’ the big blind and after ‘FARFLUNG’ with Kh-Kc simply limped and the 6 other players folded, ‘ODESSA99’ raised the action and was called by both players.
On a flop of Kd-Jc-Qh, ‘ODESSA99’ then bet out and after ROOSTER XXX folded, FARFLUNG raised and then called ODESSA99’s re-raise.
The turn card of Qd then made ‘ODESSA99’ his four of a kind, who then check-raised his opponent, who called. Finally, a Ks on the river also made FARFLUNG quads and after the betting went wild ‘ODESSA99’ saw the astounding news that his quad queens had been cracked.
However, it was soon celebrations all round after ODESSA99 was awarded $340,875 for losing the hand, FARFLUNG $170,813 for being the winner, and the remaining seven players $1,150 a piece for merely being at the table.
Commenting on his incredible fortune, full time poker player ‘ODESSA99’ said:
“I actually dreamt a few days before that I lost with queens, so it really is a dream come true! I just want to thank UB. Without this site and its Bad Beat Jackpot, I would not have had this opportunity, and I will be using my money wisely to help my family out, save for my young son’s college education, and put him through private school.”
