Full Tilt Pros Crushed 3-0 By Team PokerStars
March 11, 2013 3:21 pmFull Tilt Professional Gus Hansen hasn’t had the best time of things since returning to the re-launched site’s virtual tables last November.
Not only did the Danish pro lose -$3,204,539 during the last two months of 2012, but he has already dropped a further -$1,743,664 this year.
Perhaps it was harking back on past triumphs that compelled him to tweet Daniel Negreanu and remind him of the $575,000 pot he took off him on TV show High Stakes Poker back in 2006. An exchange of tweets ensued and out of them was born the Full Tilt Professionals versus Team Stars $150,000 Heads-Up Challenge.
That challenge kicked off live yesterday at the EPT London, while the action also took place on Full Tilt Poker for online railbirds to enjoy. However, by the time the 3 matches were completed, Full Tilt had crashed to a stinging 3-0 defeat at the hands of Team PokerStars, with each player having lost his $50k stake. Furthermore, the losing site had also agreed to pay $10,000 of EPT London tournament buy-ins for each member of the winning team.
In the first match, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier defeated Victor “Isildur1” Blom 3-0. Next, Isaac “Ike” Haxton took out Tom “durrrr” Dwan by 2 games to 1, while the final match saw Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu defeat his fellow team captain Gus Hansen by a stinging 3-0.
Commenting later on his teams remarkable performance, Daniel Negreanu said: “I did predict a 3-0 sweep! Really proud of my team, and preparing for the match was a great bonding and learning experience. The whole team contributed, even those that didn’t play, including Vanessa Selbst, Eugene Katchalov and Jason Mercier. I’m really proud of how prepared Team PokerStars was.”
Meanwhile, the Full Tilt”Professionals” are already looking to avenge their clean sweep defeat and are seeking a rematch.
