2010 Poker Hall of Fame Nominees Announced
September 2, 2010 6:31 amAfter two months of online balloting, the 102 players voted for by the public has been reduced to just ten names all vying for a place in the ‘Poker Hall of Fame.’
Considered one of the biggest honors in poker, the next step of the process will now involve the 16 living members of the Hall, as well as a panel of 17 media personnel, getting together to choose the eventual winner.
Created in 1979 by Benny Binion, the exclusive Poker Hall of Fame boasts 38 players and includes such legends of the game as Johnny Moss, Nick the Greek, Wild Bill Hickok, Doyle Brunson, Chip Reese, Stu Unga, and Phil Hellmuth.
The requirements for candidates is that the person ‘must have played poker against acknowledged top competition, played for high stakes, played consistently well, gained the respect of peers and stood the test of time. For non-players, they must contribute to the overall growth and success of the game of poker with indelible positive and lasting results.’
The ten nominees hoping to become immortalised as part of the illustrious pantheon of poker stars, have been named as:

Barry Greenstein
Jennifer Harman
Dan Harrington
Phil Ivey
Linda Johnson
Tom McEvoy
Daniel Negreanu
Scotty Nguyen
Erik Seidel
The eventual winner will be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in Las Vegas come November, as part of the WSOP Main Event festivities.
