Real Madrid And Bwin.party Ink New Deal
May 30, 2013 3:27 pmFor the past six years Bwin.com has had a shirt sponsorship deal with Spanish football club Real Madrid, but with that arrangement swiftly drawing to a close bwin.party has now agreed to reshape their deal and serve as the club’s official digital partner, instead.
The new arrangement is seen as reflecting changes in consumer behavior, and entails a whole range of strategies, including bwin.party integrating its brand into Real Madrid’s website, social media and mobile apps, as well as advertising on the Bernabeu Stadium’s perimeter signs and having access to the club’s players for marketing campaigns.
Commenting on the new deal, bwin.party CEO Norbert Teufelberger, said: “We now look forward to beginning the next chapter by leveraging our brand strengths to drive revenue and create premium content for our customers and Real Madrid’s millions of followers. We remain committed sponsors and wish Real Madrid every success in the club’s pursuit of more trophies.”
At a valuation of €3.3billion, Real Madrid is the world’s richest football club and also enjoys a higher annual turnover of any other club at €513 million. A list of Real Madrid’s on pitch accolades over the year’s includes a record 32 La Liga titles, and internationally 9 European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles and 2 UEFA Cups.
For the past 6 years, Bwin.party’s association with Real Madrid has seen the online gambling company rise to third place in Spain’s regulated gambling market, behind 888Poker Spain and market leader PokerStars. Likewise, the football club has also expressed its satisfaction with the partnership, and as Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, explains:
