Partypoker Awarded EGR Poker Operator of the Year TitleLast Thursday, the EGR Operator Awards took place at Grosvenor House in London, with hundreds of gambling industry professionals turning out for the annual prestigious event which honors the best B2C operators in the business. While there are awards for 30 different categories, the biggest surprise on the evening was provided by partypoker, which won the ‘Poker Operator of the Year’ honor.
For the last three years, that title had gone to PokerStars, but this time around the brand owned by GVC Holdings topped the category, beating the other shortlisted candidates which included the likes of 888poker, Pokerdom, Sky Betting & Gaming, and of course PokerStars.
Partypoker has introduced numerous innovations in 2017, with the sweeping changes having created a hugely positive feel about the site within the industry, and amongst its many customers. These innovations introduced by a  revamped management team includes a new partypoker LIVE tour, while online the site now offers a new tournament schedule, reintroduced rakeback for all its players, and implemented a major software refresh.
The brand has also added significantly to its roster of top poker ambassadors over the past 12 months, which now includes Fedor Holz, Sam Trickett, Johnny Lodden, Dzmitry Urbanovich, Kristen Bicknell, Marcel Luske, and former No. 1 player Boris Becker.
Helping partypoker rise to greater height is Poker Hall of Famer Mike Sexton, who was a part of Team partypoker and a WPT presenter before taking over as Chairman of partypoker earlier this year. Meanwhile, GVC Holdings also picked up a further award as the Casino Operator of the Year, and commenting upon partypoker’s rising fortunes, its Managing Director, Tom Waters, stated:
“Partypoker has been transformed from a declining brand to a poker site that is now delivering a real challenge to the global poker market. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of the partypoker team over the last year and hopefully this is just the beginning.”
Also picking up awards on the night was Sky Betting & Gaming which won an impressive four awards, namely Sports Betting Operator of the Year, In-play Sports Operator of the Year, Football Betting Operator of the Year, and the Mobile Operator of the Year.
