Vietnam Veteran Wins $550K Progressive Table-Game Jackpot

A Vietnam veteran is celebrating his incredible good luck after taking down a huge $549,950 jackpot while playing the Crazy 4 Poker progressive table-game at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut.
Francis Soule of Springfield has been a regular at the casino for some time, and usually visits the venue every three to five weeks. Around six years ago, the 75 year-old enjoyed a measure of success after making a Royal Flush and releasing a $4,900 jackpot at the casino, but this time around the very same hand netted him the second-largest progressive table-game jackpot in the Foxwoods Resort Casino’s 23 year history.
Mr Soule was enjoying a day out at the casino along with his wife Lorrie, and sister-in-law, Barbara Whaples, when he struck the life-changing amount. Commenting after his incredible win, Soule said:
“I’m a lucky guy. Foxwoods has been awesome to me.”
He has since transferred the winnings to his bank account, and is currently in contact with an accountant to ensure all of the required taxes are paid correctly. In the meantime, the disabled war veteran said he intends to continue working in the heating and air conditioning industry, stating that; “You got to stay active to stay above ground.”
A few months earlier on March 29th, the casino paid out its biggest ever version of the jackpot after Alicia T. of Massachusetts collected $612,159 through the casino’s multi-link progressive table-game system. As Wayne Theiss, VP of Table Games at Foxwoods Resort Casino, explained at the time:
“We are thrilled to have this winning technology available to our loyal table games players. This technology allows our guests to win continuously growing jackpots at multiple levels, and this adds to the already impressive progressive table games’ payouts of over $1.4 million since September, 2015.”
The Foxwoods Resort Casino is located on the Mashantucket Pequot Indian Reservation, and includes a complex of seven casinos. Together they offer more than 380 table games, as well as a further 4,700 slot machines. Other facilities at the 9,000,000 sq ft resort includes restaurants, and a 2,266 bedroom hotel.
