Sahara Casino poker room opening Friday

If you’re in Las Vegas without a date for Valentine’s Day, you may want to head over to the Sahara Casino and enjoy their new poker room.

The Sahara announced earlier this year that they would be reopening their long-closed poker room. They made it official this week when they announced the poker room would open its doors this Friday, February 14.

This will be the first time live-poker will be offered at the Sahara since its original poker room was shuttered in 2011.

The new poker room is part of a $150 million renovation at the Sahara and will operate daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. The poker room will include seven tables which will feature a number of different poker variations, including No-Limit Hold’em, Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, 7-Card Stud and several mixed games as well.

Daily poker tournaments will be offered with at least four start times spread out throughout the day. Buy-ins for these tournaments will start out ranging from $45 to $100.

The table rake at the Sahara will be 10 percent with a maximum of $4. While playing, all players will receive rewards points. They are calculated at $2 in points per hour played in cash games.

Along with the poker action the room will also boast a massive 16-foot by nine-foot video wall. There will also be five smaller screens spread around the room. Food will be available in the room 24/7 with all food being provided by North Side Café.

A grand opening celebration will be held at the Sahara poker room on Friday, February 21. According to a release issued by the Sahara the celebration will include champagne and hors d’oeuvres, branded Sahara promotional items, gift cards and various giveaways.

There will also be bounties in play at the tables throughout the day.
