Jennifer Lopez's Mum Won $2.4m At The Borgata Casino In Atlantic City

Jennifer Lopez's Mum Won $2.4m At The Borgata Casino In Atlantic CityJennifer Lopez revealed two interesting details about her mother Guadalupe Rodríguez on The Tonight Show this week. Firstly, she enjoys a flutter at the casino, and secondly that in 2004 Guadalupe scooped an enormous $2.4 million slots jackpot while playing at The Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
“She won like $2.4 million on the slots – this was years ago, this was like 10 years ago. My mother’s a huge gambler,” the 45-year-old actress and singer revealed to Jimmy Fallon Monday night.
Continuing the story, Jennifer said that she was not a big gambler herself, and only learned of her mother’s enormous win after receiving a phone call. Jennifer said she received the strange call from her usually excitable mother one night, alerting her to the fact something had happened, explaining:
“I knew something had happened. I said, ‘Ma, what’s wrong?’ and she said, ‘I won $2.4 million’. She started screaming at the top of her lungs. Crazy. And I was like, ‘What?’. On the slots of all things. She described the whole moment, took forever, play by play: ‘And then the seven came down but it passed.'”
Jennifer Lopez was born in The Bronx, New York City, to Puerto Rican parents Guadalupe Rodriguez and David Lopez, who met after moving to the US. She later pursued a career in the entertainment industry, despite the dismay of her parents, who believed it to be an unrealistic career choice for a Hispanic. The star is now thought to be worth more than $300 million, with the many roles she has undertaken over the years including being an actress, singer songwriter, dancer, writer, fashion designer, and film producer. Jennifer Lopez still enjoys performing live, though, and speaking to Jimmy Fallon, said:
“I did work on New Year’s Eve. I did a show. I love doing shows on New Year’s Eve because everybody thinks New Year’s Eve is going to be so much fun and there’s parties and everything but for some reason, I’m always home.”
