All Atlantic City Casinos Cheat, Says Deranged Cold Blooded Killer
June 9, 2010 9:06 amA deranged, cold blooded killer by the name of Mark Magee said he killed veteran shift manager Ray Kot at the Taj Mahal on May 27, 2009, because it was his opinion that all of Atlantic City’s casinos were crooked.
As the 58-year-old Norristown, Pa., man explained in court: “I believe the tables are electronically controlled. I base that on 25 years of experience. That is my belief. I stand by that belief. I welcome an examination.”
It was for that reason he decided someone had to pay for his paranoia, and so he walked into the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort carrying a .38-caliber revolver in his pocket and waited hours before Kot walked from the busy casino floor to the relative quiet of the card and dice room, before putting his warped plan into effect.
“I followed him all day, stalking him. I was going to kill him.” Magee explained in a matter of fact manner. ” I asked the security guard to move. I just walked in and shot him three times. I take full responsibility. I didn’t want to hurt anybody else.”
Mark Magee pleaded guilty to the atrocious crime and after sentencing is passed on Aug. 12th, is expected to serve a prison sentence of at least 30 years.
In over 32-year of legalized gambling in Atlantic City, this incident marks the only known murder inside one of its casinos and the killer’s description of the death of Ray Kot caused his widow, Nancy, to break down in tears once more in the law court.
Speaking on behalf of Ray Kot’s family, the CEO of Trump Entertainment Resorts, Mark Juliano, said:
“The incredibly cold-blooded recitation of the day was shocking. There really are evil people in the world. Kot’s widow and children “are still struggling with the `why,’ as is everyone else. His explanation is, of course, ludicrous.”
As the family struggle to come to terms with the tragedy, one of Atlantic City’s streets will be re-named “Ray Kot Place” to honour his memory.
