Americas Cup of Poker To Be Held At Resorts AC in June

PokerStars made a triumphant return to the US market on March 21st, after the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement gave full approval to its partnership deal with the Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. Since then, PokerStars has managed to provide a significant boost to the state’s iPoker industry, and the buzz is set to continue with the Americas Cup of Poker final which will take place at Resorts from June 23rd to June 27th.
The Americas Cup of Poker will see 60 players from 12 countries across North and South America competing in a series of qualifiers over four weeks before the top five performers are eventually chosen to compete at the live final in Atlantic City. Being the host country, Team USA has automatically been reserved a place at the final table, with an impressive $100,000 prize pool available to the six teams who make it to the competition’s climax.
After receiving its NJ iGaming licence, PokerStars said that it would invest significant resources into making its new operation a success, including building a new poker room at the Resorts Casino Hotel. Unfortunately, the $10 million poker room will not be ready in time for this year’s Americas Cup of Poker event, although the Resorts’ present facilities already offer an excellent gaming environment for the players from all around the world who will descend upon the venue near the end of June.
Last years Americas Cup of Poker was held in Chile, with the competition eventually won by Brazil after an exciting final battle against Uruguay. Commenting on the upcoming event, Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari said:
“The Americas Cup of Poker has been growing for the last seven years and this year will not be an exception. This year not only sees an improved structure and more tournaments, but also a great live final in New Jersey to wrap up all the action. The question is will Brazil beat Argentina this time around or will it be the USA’s time to shine?
