2,885 Player Slot Machine Tournament A New World Record

On Saturday, February 11th, a new world record was set at The Pechanga Resort & Casino for the biggest ever slot machine tournament, with a total of 2,885 players entering the competition.
California’s largest casino organized the Guinness World Records attempt, which set out to record ‘the most number of unique slot tournament players in one venue in a 24-hour period.’
The free entry tournament was open to players over 21 years old and consisted of three rounds in which players had three minutes to lodge their highest score. To make things more juicy, a $30,000 cash prize was set aside for the eventual winner with a further $100,000 in cash then split between the top 300 players.
Verifying the whole proceeding which kicked-off at 11:00 am, was official Guinness adjudicator Kimberly Partrick, who summed up the successful attempt by saying:
“It was a wonderful thing to see 2,885 people take part in a free slot tournament and become a part of a world record. The room was electrified during each round and the excitement did not diminish throughout the day.”
The enormous Pechanga Resort & Casino has around 3,800 slot machines, of which approximately 1,100 were set aside for the tournament. This allowed the excitement to build as players competed head-to-head in each round of the competition with Julio L. from Murrieta eventually being awarded the top prize of $30,000
Commenting on the casino’s record breaking attempt, Pechanga General Manager Rudy Prieto said:
“This event has changed all expectations of what a slot tournamentcan do. In my 30 years in the casino business, nothing else comes close to 2,885 players in one tournament. I think this record will stand for quite some time.”
The Pechanga Resort and Casino was opened in 2002, and as well being the largest casino in the Western United States, the 445 acre resort also boasts 517 guest rooms, nine restaurants, and three clubs. In addition, it is Temecula Valley’s biggest employer, with around 4,100 people employed at the resort.
