WSOPE 2012 Day 1A: Main Event Winners And LosersDay 1A of the WSOP Europe Main Event got underway yesterday at the Hotel Majestic Barriere in Cannes, France, with 215 players putting up the €10,450 buy-in fee to compete for the prestigious title which invariably produces a $1 million winner. By the end of a day lasting in excess of 10 hours, just 115 remained.

Losers

Amongst the big names hitting the rail at the first hurdle was such notable pros as Vanessa Selbst, Chris Moorman, Jeff Lisandro, Frank Kassela, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Fabrice Soulier, Victor Ramdin, Jennifer Tilly, Will Failla,  Tobias Reinkemeier and Juha Helppi.

Also eliminated on Day 1A was Erik Cajelais (6-5) and Brandon Barnes (6-5) who got it all-in on an 8h-4h-3c-7c board against Canadian Henry Tran (Ac-8c), only for a 5c to be dealt next scuppering their straights with a rivered flush.

Winners

Out of the 115 players  making it through to Day 2, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi made it all the way to the top as chip leader on an impressive 234,850 stack, followed by Mexico’s JC Alvarado on 180,675, then Russian Sergii Baranov on 152k.

Amongst the other notable names thriving on Day 1A was Dan Shak (100,875), Philipp Gruissem (90,500) and Steve O’Dwyer (89,000), while pros progressing to Day 2 on medium to smaller sized stacks included Prosper Masquelier (70,450), Matt Stout (61,650) and Phil Ivey (55,000).

As Day 1A players now take a break from the action, Day 1B of the Main Event is currently underway in Cannes with top players such as Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Andy Frankenberger and Jonathan Duhamel taking to the felts.
