WSOP Releases Its 2016 Tournament Dates

WSOP Releases Its 2016 Tournament DatesPoker fans were treated to an early Christmas treat this year, after the World Series of Poker (WSOP) released its schedule early for next year’s prestigious tournament series. According to the announcement, the 2016 WSOP will kick-off on Tuesday, May 31st at the Rio in Las Vegas, and run all the way until its last tournament, the Main Event, reaches its final table on Monday, July 18th.
That’s 50-days of WSOP action to enjoy, with the series’s first open event being the Colossus, which last year proved to be the biggest live poker event ever held. In 2016, Colossus II is expected to attract even more players with the $565 rebuy event having an extra $2 million added to its guaranteed prize pool, as well as a offering a guaranteed $1 million prize to its eventual winner.
Other popular events that are included in the 2016 schedule include The Millionaire Maker, Monster Stack, and the Little One for One Drop. Also featured will be a number of restricted tournaments, such as ones catering to just Casino Employees (June 1), Seniors (June 17th), and the Ladies Championships.
Naturally, the $10,000 WSOP Main Event championship will prove the most anticipated tournament of the series, and will feature three starting flights, and run for ten straight days from July 9th to 18th.
Like last year, players attending the WSOP will be given the opportunity to qualify for some of the events via WSOP.com’s Nevada and New Jersey based poker sites. This offer is available for both state residents, as well as out of state visitors.
After announcing the 2016 WSOP schedule, WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart commented: “We want to wish everyone Happy Holidays and best wishes for 2016. We hope some of your New Year Resolution’s will include capturing a WSOP gold bracelet in the coming year. We expect another well-rounded schedule offering something for everyone and another record-breaking opening with Colossus II on tap to make a millionaire right out of the gate.”
