There is little disputing Nguyen’s status as one of the best tournament players in the world and he has now amassed $9,738,752. in career tournament wins, including 65 cashes at WSOP events worth about $2,183,152.
Men Nguyen took his place at a tough final table which included Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, looking for a second WSOP bracelet after his win at the $50K Players Championship, and Vladimir Schmelev, who was the runner up.
Nguyen continued to play a highly skilled and flamboyant game, even taking time to entertain the crowd by playing part of the tournament without glancing at his hole cards.
Eventually, he managed to get heads up against Brandon Adams, who then had to not only contend against Nguyen’s incredible card skills, but also his playful banter.
“I got six bracelets man. I want one more! How many you got? One? None? Don’t worry, you beat Men “The Master” and you’ll be famous tomorrow!” he quipped to the crowd’s delight.
Through a combination of constant applied pressure and hitting the right cards at the right time, Men Nguyen managed to secure a 4-to-1 chip lead over Adams. On the final hand, sixth street saw all the money go to the centre of the table with Nguyen needing either a King or a Queen to complete his straight draw or beat Adams’ Queen high pair.
Fortune continued to smile on Nguyen, who was dealt a King to knock Adams out in the runner up spot, and subsequently collected $243,958 for his impressive run in the event.
In the meanwhile, full honours, $394,807 in prize money, and of course the all important WSOP bracelet went to a true legend of the game, Men “The Master” Nguyen.
