WSOP 2013: Tom Schneider Wins $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. Event
June 14, 2013 12:46 pmTom Schneider has won WSOP $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. (Event #15), after overcoming a field of 862 players over three days on his way to capturing a gold bracelet, as well as the $258,960 first place prize.
The 53-year-old from Arizona has been cashing in at live tournaments since 2002, and in 2007 enjoyed a glorious WSOP after picking up two bracelets and being named the WSOP Player of the Year. After making it a hat trick of bracelets following his latest win at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Schneider now boasts $2,024,430 in live career earnings.
Commenting on his impressive victory, Tom Schneider said: “I’ve been cashing a lot in events. Last year, I cashed in six events, but I seemed to be missing out on going deep and making a final table. It had been a while. It’s nice to know I can still play. There are a lot of good players now. The events are tougher than they’ve ever been. It’s just nice to get some validation that I can still play with these younger kids.”
Amongst those top pros cashing in at the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. Event, but falling short of a final table apperance was Andy Bloch in 87th ($2,595), Alexander Kravchenko in 41st ($4,270), Dan Kelly in 16th ($8,378) and David Bach in 12th ($12,998).
The final table, too, featured many noticeable pros, including the likes of Eddie Blumenthal, Owais Ahmed, Scott Bohlman, Frankie O’Dell, and Rep Porter. Eventually, Schneider would overcome Owais Ahmed in a half hour heads-up battle to claim the Event #15: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. bracelet.
