WSOP 2009 Final Starts 10pm pst: Cada And Moon Go Heads-Up For Poker Glory

The waiting to decide who will become the 2009 WSOP Main Event Champion is almost over as Joe Cada (21) and Darvin Moon (46) get ready to battle it out for poker glory and a guaranteed place in poker history.
The contrast between the two remaining players is sure to make for an entertaining heads-up contest as the differences between the two players couldn’t be more pronounced.
Darvin Moon is 46 years old whereas Cada, at 21, is nearly half the age of his opponent and is hoping to become the youngest player ever to win the Main Event title, wrestling the honour from last year’s winner Peter Eastgate, who usurped Phil Helmuths 20 year record.
Cada is an online poker pro at PokerStars.com where he regularly play up to a dozen tournaments simultaneously or three heads-up whereas Moon, was the only true amateur of the November Niners and confesses to only ever playing poker for fun and never online.
Joe Cada has already cashed in twice at this years WSOP, coming 17th in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em for $21,533 and 64th in the $2,500 No Limit Hold’em for $6,681 whilst this is Moon’s first ever WSOP tournament and he has never cashed in at any major tournament whatsoever before now.
However, one thing that is in accord between the two players is that now they have both become millionaires for their endeavours, the extra $3.37 million between first and second place is but a secondary consideration to the accolade of picking up the 2009 WSOP Main Event bracelet.
As Darvin Moon said, “Me and my wife were walking up the hall and she said, ‘Do you know how much money you’re guaranteed now?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, and I don’t care. I don’t even look at that. If you look at that, you’re going to go crazy.”
And when asked what game plan he would use in his battle against Cada, the ever down to earth logger from Maryland said, “Win. Just win.”
Cada goes into today’s final with a 135,950,000 to 58,850,000 chip advantage and as the play gets underway at 10 pm we will endeavour to bring you updates of the action from this long anticipated and exciting conclusion to WSOP 2009.
