UK's Max Silver Captures WSOP $3k LHE Bracelet

UK's Max Silver Captures WSOP $3k LHE Bracelet Max Silver has won Event #53 of the WSOP, $3,000 Limit Hold’em 6-Handed, after defeating a field of 256 players over three days on his way to lifting the title, and collecting a first place prize of $172,645. Commenting on a victory which now pushes his live career earnings to $3,481,986, Silver stated:
“I can’t really describe it. It’s always been a dream for me to win a bracelet. I’ve come third, sixth, ninth…whatever. It’s nice to get the win. I haven’t had a big win in a while. I did what felt right at all times, and it seemed to work out. I don’t claim to be a limit expert by any means, but I played reasonably well and I’m pretty proud of it.”
Silver’s win now brings the number of gold bracelets won by Brits at the 2017 WSOP to four, with other players also having accomplished the feat including Liv Boeree, Chris Moorman, and Christopher Brammer.
Event #53 featured a prize pool worth $691,200, and amongst the pros making it into a top 39 money spot was Jimmy Fricke in 30th ($5,524), Joe McKeehen in 27th ($5,524), James Obst in 25th ($5,524), Frank Kassela in 16th ($7,821), and David Bach in 11th ($9,775).
At the final table, Silver then eliminated Lena Wang (5th) on his way to taking a 3-to-1 chiplead over Guowei Zhang into the heads-up phase of the competition. In the end, the deciding hand was played with Silver (K-10) overcoming Zhang (8-3) on a J-8-5-4-K board to claim the coveted bracelet. With his thoughts turning to his wife currently in Ireland, Silver said:
“She was so happy. She’s currently six months pregnant, so she was crying — extra emotions! — but, to be fair to her, she would probably be crying anyway. I’m going to see her in about 12 hours. I’m flying to New York, she’s flying to New York, and we’re going to meet in the middle!”
Final table Results:
1: Max Silver $172,645
2: Guowei Zhang $106,694
3: MIckey Craft $69,789
4: Ayman Qutami $46,871
5: Lena Wang $32,345
6: Georgios Kapalas $22,952
