Trio of 888poker Ambassadors Aiming High at WSOP 2017
June 29, 2017 11:47 am888poker is the main sponsor of the World Series of Poker currently taking place in Las Vegas, and as such is being represented by a full contingent of its ambassadors, including Chris Moorman, Bruno Politano, and Dominik Nitsche. With 50 of its 74 event schedule completed, Chris Moorman has already struck a major coup for his sponsored site after taking down the $3,000 NLHE 6 Handed event for $498,682. As Poker Central subsequently tweeted after his impressive win:
“He crushes online poker, and now has a #WSOP bracelet to his name.”
Moorman, who finished runner-up at the 2011 WSOP Europe Main Event for €800,000 ($1,068,690), thoroughly deserved the victory and to have his achievements recognized at the biggest poker tournament showcase on the planet. Commenting later on what the victory meant to him, Moorman explained:
“It’s kind of surreal. Any time you win live, it’s like it’s a lot more ‘real.’ Particularly since a lot of my online success was when I was living in the U.K., and I would be playing all through the night, and maybe win a tournament about 5 or 6 in the morning. I would just be there on my own, maybe talking with friends on Skype online, but the money goes into your account. You don’t see the money in front of you, you don’t have anyone celebrating. I don’t know – it’s just a great feeling when you win [live].”
Overall, the British pro has now notched up a total of five cashes at this year’s WSOP for $530,451, taking his live career earnings to $5,148,915 to go with the $14,055,943 he has amassed online.
Similar to Moorman, Brazillian ambassador Bruno Politano has also cashed five times at the Rio this year, although his results have been much more modest in comparison. In fact, his earnings equate to just $25,769, with his best result so far a 10th place finish at the $1,000 Pot Limit Omaha event for $10,129. In the meantime, Germany’s Dominik Nitsche is also finding difficulty gaining traction at this year’s WSOP, having managed just a 30th place finish at the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout for $6,407.
With plenty of events left to play, though, things could change in an instant so don’t be surprised to see 888Poker’s team of pros making some deep runs later on in the Series.
