Ladies Poker Finalist Jonathan Epstein Narks Fans

The days of men entering women’s events at the WSOP may soon be at an end after a new exclusion law goes into effect on January 2012 in Vegas.
Over the years men have continued entering these Ladies events despite being subjected to a lot of negative attention from poker fans who see their action as disrespectful to the women’s game.
In the meantime, Jonathan Epstein has risen to the top of this less than salubrious list after finishing in 9th place at the final table of the WSOP $1k Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship for a payday of $13,701.
Jonathan Epstein was one of fifteen men who entered the 1,055 player field, but he carried the full gravity of all his bretheren’s dubious actions as he was introduced at the event’s final table.
“The dude…[is] single and unemployed… no surprise on either count,” came the comment from the compere much to the amusement of the crowd, while Epstein was forced to sit there and receive his just deserts.
Constantly booed by the crowd and referred to as “appalling” and ungentlemanly behaviour from the start, one may wonder why the men enter these ladies events knowing the level of animosity they invariably receive.
A few reasons suggested include lost prop bets and greed, to making fun or parodying the women’s competition. In Jonathan Epstein’s case, he said he just wanted to play one more event before he returned home.
In any case, none of the reasons suggested speak of a lofty ideal and so Epstein can’t be too surprised after becoming the target of a lot of derisory press after his deep run in the tournament.
As the crowd chanted as he found himself all-in holding A-Q to eventual winner Marsha Wolak’s pocket tens:
“Bust the dude! Bust the dude,” and bust he did.
