Germany's Jachtmann Wins WSOP $10k PLO ChampionshipGermany’s Jan-Peter Jachtmann has won Event#39: 10k PLO Championship, after defeating a field of 293 players over three days on his way to capturing a gold bracelet, and the $661,000 first place prize.
As well as being a prolific cash game player, the founder of German poker magazine POKERBLATT has been cashing in at tournaments since 2003 and now has $1,210,952 in live career earnings to his name. Commenting on his victory in Las Vegas,  Jachtmann said:
“I came over here specifically to play three pot-limit Omaha events. It was a dream just to make the final table of the $10,000 event, and now I won the championship. It’s unbelievable. Pot-limit Omaha, I played for many years, and it is the game that I play almost every day in cash games in Germany. This is my best game, for sure.”
At the start of Day 3, Jan-Peter Jachtmann eliminated one of his “idols” Sammy Farha in 11th place ($43,076), before beginning the nine man final table in second spot. Soon after, Joe Kusher became the first player to exit the arena in 9th ($55,525), followed by a short-stacked Jason Mercier in 8th ($72,132).
Jachtmann then proceeded to dispatch Nikolai Yakovenko in 7th ($94,442) and Micah Smith in 4th ($222,044) before Andrew Brown sent Steven Silverman to the rail in 3rd ($299,960) to usher in the heads-up phase of the competition.
Despite both players starting with more than 90BB a piece, 10 minutes was all it took before WSOP bracelet holder Andrew Brown was relegated to a runner-up finish worth $408,393, while Jan-Peter Jachtmann took the bracelet. Commenting after his win, a jubilant Jachtmann said:
“Tomorrow I have to fly home to Germany. But before that, I’m going to meet with some friends and party, definitely. We’re going to have a party tonight somewhere in Vegas. I definitely will spend a lot of money because I just want to party.”
