Frank Kassela Named As 2010 WSOP Player of The Year

Frank Kassela Named As 2010 WSOP Player of The YearPoker pro Frank Kassela has just been named as the ‘2010 WSOP Player of The Year’ after a magnificent run in the tournament which saw him pick up 2 WSOP bracelets and $1,233,987 in prize money.
The Rossville, Tennessee resident and father of five had been cashing in at the WSOP since 2005, and up to this year had made the money at six events for $165,346. This year alone, however, Kassela managed to cash in at five events with three final table appearances to earn 285 points and win the Player of The Year competition.
Counting towards his impressive points tally was 10th place at Event #12 – Limit Hold’em for $11,027, 1st at Event #15 – 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo Championship 8 or Better for $447,446, 1st at Event #40 – Razz Seven Card for $214,085, 36th at Event #48 -Mixed Event for $5,376, and 3rd at Event #52 – No Limit Hold’em Six Handed for $556,053.
Frank Kassela was clearly delighted with his POY recognition and said; “Having the ability to do well, to walk with the best in the world, to compete on their level, to beat them and walk away with the recognition everyone in the room wanted to have … how do you beat that?”
Interestingly, Kassela said he is deeply in tune with the ebb and flow of his poker game and anticipated he would be hitting a heater going into WSOP 2010. Elaborating further, Kassela said:
“I was telling people for the month leading up that I was going to have a really good World Series. I’m sure I was always optimistic about it, but the cycle of my play lets me know when I’m going to hit well, and I’d been running good in my cash games leading up to the Series. If you go back and look at my record, you’ll see clumps of cashes. I’ve always been really streaky. Right now, my game just feels great.”
WSOP 2010 Player of The Year Frank Kassela now joins an illustrious group of former winners, which include Daniel Negreanu 2004, Allen Cunningham 2005, Jeff Madsen 2006, Tom Schneider 2007, Erick Lindgren 2008 and Jeffrey Lisandro 2009.
