2012 WSOP Day 1C: Main Event Winners And Losers
July 10, 2012 2:00 pmAfter Days 1a and 1b which had a combined starting field of 3,180 players, Day 1c of the WSOP Main Event managed to attract a massive 3,418 entrants to the Rio, a single-day record for the prestigious $10k buy-in tournament.
As a result, the 2012 WSOP Main Event saw 6,598 players enter the competition to create a prize pool worth $62 million with $8.5 million going to the eventual winner.
Losers
Among the notable names hitting the rail on Day 1c was Andrew Robl, Annette Obrestad, Lex Veldhuis, Jonathan Little, Humberto Brenes, Jonathan Duhamel, Chino Rheem, Olivier Busquet, Justin Smith, and Nacho Barbero.
Also eliminated was Main Event winner Chris Moneymaker. Since winning $2.5 million in 2003 to kick-start the poker boom, Moneymaker has cashed just three times at WSOP events for $32,041 with his last cash coming back in 2007.
Winners
Emerging at the top of the chip counts on Day 1c was Randy Haddox, who managed to grow his 30k starting stack to 188,275 by the end of the day’s action.
Notable names also thriving on Day 1c include Brandon Adams (158,100), Jake Cody (124,675), Joe Cada (117,375), Sorel Mizzi (115,000) and Viktor “Isildur1” Blom (110,225).
Also making it through to Day 2 was Johnny Chan (82,300), Doyle Brunson (81,400), Antonio Esfandiari (78,925), Jamie Gold (24,800) and Tom McEvoy (24,125). Phil Ivey, too, is still in contention albeit it with a short stack of just 11,525 chips.
Also hanging in on in there was Jason Mercier, who finished with just over half his starting stack. At the end of the day, the 2 times WSOP bracelet winner tweeted:

Tomorrow at noon Las Vegas time will now see players from Day 1c returning to compete on Day 2c of the Main Event.
