Poker After Dark Season Six Airs Tonight On NBC
January 5, 2010 8:44 amThe sixth season of the hugely popular NBC show ‘Poker After Dark,’ begins airing tonight, with the first episode aptly named “Commentators Week III”. The six commentators, each putting up $20,000 to become the $120,000 winner take all champion, are Howard Lederer, Gabe Kaplan, Joe Sebok, Mark Gregorich, Kara Scott, and Oliver Nejad.
Howard Lederer, has perhaps, the highest poker credentials out of his commentator opponents,having earned more than $5.58 million from live tournament winnings, and winning three out of six Poker After Dark (PAD) matches on the programme, including the inaugaral “Commentator’s match.”
Other previous PAD champions in tonight’s line up include the winner of the second “Commentators match” Mark Gregorich, and two time winner Gabe Kaplan. Joe Sebok has made over $1.87 million from live tournaments, and will be taking time off from his usual “Poker2Nite” hosting duties to make his first PAD appearance, along with fellow debutant and “High Stakes Poker” season six hostess Kara Scott.
The final commentator hoping to triumph over his fellow analyst, is the commentator voice of PAD itself, Oliver Nejad, who will be hoping that his third appearance on the show will be his lucky one.
Season 6 will run for 13 shows, of which 7 will be winner take all tournaments and six cash games.The second episode will feature poker players with interesting monikers, such as Annette “The Huntress” Obrestad, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari, Erick “E-Dog” Lindgren, Phil “The Unabomber” Laak, and Phil “The Poker Brat” Hellmuth.
The first cash game to be played, will have a $50,000 minimum buy-in, and will include Brandon Adams, Todd Brunson, Chris Ferguson, Mike Matusow, Esfandiari, and Hellmuth.
Poker After Dark can be seen weekdays at 2:05 am on NBC, with the “Director’s Cut” episodes showing on the Saturday.
