Lisa Simpson Taught Online Poker By Jennifer Tilly

Lisa Simpson Taught Online Poker By Jennifer Tilly Last night’s episode of The Simpson’s saw Homer awarded $6,000 after an accident in which he was burnt by hot oil at a fast-food outlet. He then hides the money away in an online poker website, hilariously explaining its safer than the banks, before Lisa discovers it and starts gambling in order to build up her college funds.
Before embarking on her online poker career, however, Lisa’s seeks out advice from the pros, including Jennifer Tilly, who also does the voice of Mrs Swanson on Family Guy. What then ensues is another funny episode of the show now in its 24 season, which, as you might assume, demonstrates the roller-coaster phenomena that is gambling.
*Spoilers To End*: The ups of gambling are demonstrated by Lisa’s ever increasing confidence playing the game, and her ever more stylish college outfits bought from her online winnings. On the other side, though, when the downswing comes Lisa is less than prepared and all bankroll management goes out the window as she wagers it all.
Bart subsequently offers some advice to his forlorn sister Lisa, explaining; “No gambling story has a happy ending. Except for Seabiscuit, but you’re never sure about the lives of the people who bet against him.”
Needless to say, the episode proved a hit amongst poker fans, who described it as a hugely enjoyable experience. As you might expect, though, other viewers couldn’t help but point out perceived unrealistic elements of the cartoon. As one TwoPlusTwo forum poster by the name of rakemeplz, pointed out: “Lisa Simpson your bankroll management is atrocious, your hand reading more than slightly questionable, and your poker theory an abomination. I have no idea how you ran 5k into over 300k, but it took a lot of luck, donk.”
