Doyle Brunson Endorses Moorman’s Book of Poker
July 28, 2014 1:22 pmIn November, poker fans will be treated to a strategy book from tournament poker’s top honcho Chris Moorman. The UK pro has amassed a huge $11,274,978 playing online under the screen name “Moorman1”, making him by far the biggest online tournament winner in the history of the game. In addition, the 29 year-old has notched up a further $4 million in the live arena, including a runner-up position at the 2011 WSOPE Main Event for $1,068,690, and victory this year at the WPT LA Poker Classic for $1,015,460.
‘Moorman’s Book of Poker,’ however, is solely devoted to exploring online poker strategy, with Moorman using his considerable knowledge to review the hands his co-author, Byron Jacobs, has played online. So far around 80% of the project is complete, and giving a tantalizing glimpse into the book’s content, Moorman, said:
“Once the book is completed I will have written around 50,000 words across 100 hand histories.. The book isn’t focusing on one particular part but more a combination of pre-flop, and post-flop – particularly including turn and river decisions, which can often be more complicated.”
In 2009, when Doyle Brunson was promoting his online poker site Doyles Room, the 10-time WSOP bracelet winner signed Chris Moorman to his elite team of pros known as the Brunson 10. At the time, Brunson said Moorman reminded him of himself when he was younger, describing the UK pro as a “poker natural” and a legend in the making.
The Godfather of Poker has now paid Moorman the ultimate compliment by agreeing to provide the foreword in ‘Moorman’s Book of Poker,’ and describing the honour of such an accolade, Moorman, said:
“I remember when I first started playing poker. My friends and I would rail him whenever he sat in the high stakes cash games on Doyle’s Room. It was at this time I read Super System and it was his approach that got me to think about poker in a different light. Later, in my poker career, I was fortunate enough to not only meet the great man, but to hang out with him also. He is not only a phenomenal poker player, and an ambassador for the game, but he is an incredibly generous man, with a heart of gold and plenty of charisma. Doyle Brunson is poker, and I’m incredibly proud that he wanted to contribute to this project.”
