Villa-Lobos Wins UKIPT Edinburgh For $162k

Villa-Lobos Wins UKIPT Edinburgh For $162k Brazil’s Nicolau Villa-Lobos has won the UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Edinburgh, after overcoming a field of 662 players on his way to claimng the tile and collecting the £101,000 ($162,319) first place prize. The 24 year old only cashed in at his first live tournament in 2012, and now with his latest win in the Scottish capital boosts his career earnings to $293,695.
Nevertheless, Villa-Lobos had to battle against all the odds to take down the £700 buy-in tournament in Scotland and by the time the final table of eight had been reached, Villa-Lobos was the short stack at the table with just 313k of the 9.14m chips in play. Five hours later, however, the Brazillian held the tournament in his hands and commenting on his remarkable victory, explained:
“Today was another day and I was in the small blind so knew I had an orbit to play. I had spirit and very good vibrations from my friends in Brazil; everybody was supporting me a lot and sending me messages. I’m happy, very happy.”
Ten minutes after the final table got underway, Nicolau Villa-Lobos managed to double-up holding 4-4 to Chris Derrick’s 2-2. Shortly after, he was then involved in a three-way all-in pot in which he held Q-Q to Vladislav Donchev’s 6-6 and Christian Bergstrom’s K-Q. The board then rolled out J-8-5-7-10 to eliminate Bergstrom in 8th (£9,750), whilst improving Villa-Lobos to a 1.6m chip stack.
Eventually, when three-handed play had been reached Villa-Lobos (A-4) would make a straight on a 6-5-8-J-7 board to eliminate Poland’s Przemyslaw Dajer (A-J) in 3rd (£37,400) and so go heads-up against Bulgaria’s Vladislav Donchev. As the heads-up battle go underway, Villa-Lobos held a commanding 7.91m to 1.23m chip advantage over his opponent and a few hands later  it was all over after Donchevon (10bb) shoved his Q-7 into the A-Q of Villa-Lobos to hand the Brazillian the 2013 UKIPT Edinburgh crown.
The final table payouts were as follows:
1 Nicolau Villa-Lobos    £101,000
2 Vladislav Donchev    £61,000
3 Przemyslaw Dajer    £37,400
