Vanessa Truong Claims WSOPC Cherokee Title for $318k

Vanessa TruongThe WSOP Circuit Cherokee Main Event was held at Harrah’s Cherokee casino in North Carolina, with 1,164 players attending the $1,675 buy-in tournament to create a prize pool worth $1,746,000. Following a weekend full of table action, it was Vietnam born Vanessa Truong who would then eventually triumph over the field to claim a golden ring, as well as a first place prize worth $318,646.
“The first day was terrible, because I have no cards…but I bagged so I was happy. Then go through the second day it was like.. up, down, win some, take some. And then today [Day 3] was super rollercoaster. And I feel super excited that we have final table and I took out like six, seven guys,”commented Truong after her impressive victory.
The WSOPC Cherokee Main Event attracted a number of notable pros, and amongst those finishing in one of the 118 money spots was David Bach in 111th ($2,863), Ryan Jones in 80th ($3,998), Leif Force in 55th ($4,767), Chance Kornuth in 45th ($5,901), Alan Engel in 36th ($6,670), Marshall White in 33rd ($7,613), and Hunter Cichy in 16th ($17,111).
After the final table of nine got underway, Truong eliminated Corey Bierria in 9th, after which she was dealt A-Q and sent Billy Cashwell (2-2) to the rail in 8th. Truong (K-J) then busted Jason Gooch (A-J) in 5th, followed by Dustin Nelson (4th) and Joshua Horton (3rd) to usher in heads-up play against Daniel Pearlman for the title.
The final battle subsequently took a marathon four hours before the final hand was played with a short stacked Pearlman’s 9d-8d up against the Ad-10h of his opponent. With the board running out Ax-6c-6d-2d-Qx,  Pearlman found himself consigned to a runner-up finish worth $196,809, while Vanessa Truong claimed the WSOPC Cherokee title.
