Vanessa Selbst Wins PCA $25k Event For $1.42m

Vanessa Selbst Wins PCA $25k Event For $1.42mVanessa Selbst has become the highest earning female poker player in history after taking down the $25k PCA High Roller Event in The Bahamas for $1,424,420. Following her latest victory, the 28 year old now takes her career earnings to a massive  $7,004,036, putting her more than $1.1 million ahead of former women’s No. 1 Kathy Liebert.
The final table of eight was packed with top talent, three of whom then found themselves consigned to the rail by Germany’s Ole Schemion within the first 12 hands of pay.
First Schemion (Q-Q) eliminated Micah Raskin (A-J) in 8th for $129,940. He was then dealt 8-8 to dispatch Tobias Reinkemeier (A-K) in 7th ($174,940), before his J-J saw off Bryn Kenney (8-8) in 6th for $229,900.
However, Ole Schemion (Ah-8s) tried to run a huge all-in river bluff against Vanessa Selbst (K-K) on a Kd-10h-6h-10c-2d board only to be subsequently called and plummet to the bottom of the chip stacks, just as Selbst took the chip lead.
Vanessa Selbst (A-K) then proceeded to eliminate Shaun Deeb (A-10) in 5th ($289,880), before Canada’s Mike Watson (Q-Q) got in on the action by dispatching Schemion (5-5) to the rail in 4th ($354,860). However, Selbst (Ks-Qs) managed to get Watson (Kh-Jh) to bluff-off all his chips on an Ah-9s-8s-Qc-2s board to eventually go heads-up against Russian Vladimir Troyanovskiy.
Despite his deficit, Troyanovskiy was then able to effectively narrow the gap before the crucial hand was played with both Selbst (A-Q) and Troyanovskiy (K-K) all-in pre-flop. Unfortunately for him, the board fell 2-2-8-10-A to relegate him to a runner-up finish worth $792,180, while Vanessa Selbst was crowned the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25,000 High Roller champion.
The final table payouts were as follows:
1 Vanessa Selbst $1,424,420
2 Troyanovskiy    $792,180
3 Mike Watson  $462,320
4 Ole Schemion    $354,860
5 Shaun Deeb    $289,880
6 Bryn Kenney    $229,900
