UKIPT Champion Of Champions 2010 Won By David Vamplew
October 7, 2010 2:30 pmFresh from taking down the EPT London 2010 Main Event for £900,000, David Vamplew has completed a famous double by winning the UKIPT Champion Of Champions event.
Vamplew was rewarded this time around with a free seat to each of the eight UKIPT tournament arranged for Season 2.
Vamplew later described winning his second tournament over just a few days as “the icing on the cake.”
The PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour Champion of Champions took place at the Hilton Metropole in London, and is a freeroll event specifically designed for all the UKIPT winners from season 1 of the tour.
Included amongst the nine player Sit & Go line-up were Padraig Parkinson, Joeri Zandvliet, Gilles Augustus, Andy Couldridge, Femi Fakinle , Jamie Burland, Nick Abou Risk, Max Silver and of course the 23-year-old Scot David Vamplew.
Eventually, the table played down to a heads-up battle between UKIPT Brighton winner Jamie Burland and Vamplew. Unfortunately for Burland there were no prizes for runner-up and after their battle he quipped:
“I hoped David would get tired after yesterday. But…he played really good.”
Amazingly David Vamplew only started playing live tournaments this year but still managed a 106th place finish at the WSOP $2,500 No Limit Hold’em event in July for $6,071.
A few months down the line and he is currently up an incredible $1,414,478 and has a major title to his name after defeating poker superstar John Juanda in a heads-up battle to clinch the 2010 EPT London.
Vamplew now has a busy schedule ahead of him and we wish him luck as he embarks on his year long UKIPT freeroll beginning in Galway on 2nd December at the €1,100 Main Event.
