UK Pro Kuljinder Sidhu Wins Bellagio Cup XII Main Event

While the 2016 WSOP in Las Vegas attracted most of the attention of poker fans this summer, a number of other noteworthy poker tournaments have also been held outside of the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino over the past few weeks.
One such event was the Bellagio Cup XII, which on June 14th culminated with 268 players shelling out the required $10,400 buy-in fee to enter its Main Event. Five days later, and the prestigious tournament was eventually won by UK pro Kuljinder Sidhu, who subsequently walked away with the title, and an impressive $599,440 payday for his hard-fought efforts.
The Main Event featured a prize pool of $2,599,600, with all 27 top finishing players guaranteed a payout of at least $23,396. Considering the huge entrance fee, the field was naturally filled with top talent, and amongst the big name pros then seeing a return on their buy-ins was Faraz Jaka in 22nd ($23,396), Justin Bonomo in 15th ($31,195), and Byron Kaverman in 10th ($36,394).
The final table of nine was similarly well stacked with top talent, and following the departures of such pros as Dani Stern (9th), Liv Boeree (8th), David Peters (7th), Pratyush Buddiga (5th), and Chance Kornuth (3rd), the heads-up phase of the tournament got underway between Kuljinder Sidhu and Nick Schulman for the title.
The players subsequently decided to split the prize money before playing for the trophy, with the UK pro ultimately besting his 2-times WSOP bracelet winning opponent. Following his impressive victory, Kuljinder Sidhu now boosts his live tournament earnings to $2,266,868, with his other career highlights including finishing runner-up at the 2015 ESPT Barcelona High Roller for €640,000 ($722,771).
Final Table Results:
1: Kuljinder Sidhu $599,400
2: Nick Schulman $557,388
3: Chance Kornuth $285,956
4: Connor Drinan $198,869
5: Pratyush Buddiga $148,177
6: Adam Geyer $114,382
7: David Peters $88,386
8: Liv Boeree $64,990
9: Dani Stern $46,793
