Smallest Ever GUKPT Main Event Won By Allan Peers

Allan Peers has won the smallest ever Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Main Event, after defeating a field of 73 players over three days to collect the first place prize worth £11,000 ($17,867).
After all the fees for the £550 entry and re-buy event in Stockton were collected, the £36,000 ($57,915) prize pool meant just a handful of players would receive payouts, with 10th place finisher Paul Reilly receiving £520 for his efforts.
Despite the diminutive returns, the $17,867 won by Allan Peers boosts his live earnings to $21,976, which still have a way to go if they are to rival the $407,308 he has won so far online under the screen name “bigal37.”
When just three players remained, James Marriot was dealt Ac-As and saw a pre-flop raise by Allan Peers (Qc-7c) with the board falling 6c-2c-Ts. Marriot’s leads out bet was then met by an all-in shove by Peers, with Marriott making the call before being exiting after a 10c hit on the river.
As the heads-up got underway, Allan Peers held four-fifths of the chips in play and a short while later the defining hand was played after Thomas Dunwoodie was dealt 6-3 to Peers’ 9-5. The 6-7-7-9 board then saw Dunwoodie shove over the top of his opponent’s bet only to see the bad news. With a jack on the river changing nothing, Thomas Dunwoodie had to content himself with collecting a runner-up prize worth £8,000 ($12,668), while Allan Peers took down his first live title.
The final table payouts were as follows:
1st. Allan Peers (£11,000)
2nd. Thomas Dunwoodie (£8,000)
3rd. James Marriot (£5,380)
4th. Mark O’Kane (£3,190)
5th. Mark James (£2,560)
6th. Andy Lambert (£1,920)
7th. CT Law (£1,550)
8th. Darren Meynell (£1,280)
9th. David Galo (£1,100)
10th. Paul Riley (£520)
