Poker Babe Liv Boeree Wins $148k PokerStars Tournament
February 7, 2011 8:22 amTeam PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree has once more shown her poker pedigree after beating a field of 4,710 players at the $215 buy-in PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up, to take down the $147,780 first place prize.
The stunning looking Team PokerStars Pro is no stranger to overcoming huge player fields and last year she placed first at the EPT San Remo for a massive pay-out of $1,698,300.
Now, the 26 year-old has demonstrated her skills online at PokerStars, only a few short months since joining the site in October 2010.
As the tournament progressed, four Team PokerStars Pros managed to make it onto the last four tables, including Daniel “KidPoker” Negreanu, Pieter De Korver, Marcin “Goral” Horecki, and of course Liv Boeree.
With just 31 players remaining, Pieter De Korver had a chance to take the chip lead in a massive pot where he held pocket 8’s to his opponent Marwetz’s 8-9. However, Marwetz made a straight and a few hands later when Korver pushed with K-K, he was called and then eliminated by A-Q. He collected $2,345 for his 24th place finish.
Five hands later it was Negreanus time to depart after getting it all-in pre-flop holding pocket 7’s to Cod Meharly’s As-10s. Unfortunately for Daniel the turn on a 6h-Qs-Kc-Js board left him drawing dead and he was then out in 22nd place for $2,345.
By the time the tournament reached the final table of nine, both Marcin “Goral” Horecki and Boeree were hoping to go all the way in the competiton. However, the Polish pro Horecki lost a three-way pot and exited in 8th ($11,775) leaving Boeree to fly the flag alone for PokerStars.
Eventually, James “mig.com” Mackey and Liv Boeree would go heads-up with less than 30BB each and an hour and a half later the outcome was decided after Mackey (A-6) with the shorter stack shoved pre-flop and was called by Liv holding pocket 7’s. With no help from the board, Mackey collected $109,743 as the runner-up while the 26 year-old Boeree added $147,780 to her ever increasing bankroll.
After her win the 26 year-old beauty wrote on her Twitter account; “weeeeeeee…Just shipped the Sunday warm up on PokerStars for $147,780 :-D.” It was then straight to bed for Boeree who wrote; “Have to be up in 3.5 hours to do commentary for UKIPT TV show uh oh.”
