PKR 'PatIvey' Makes Record Third Consecutive Master's Final Table
November 16, 2009 10:12 amSwedish online sensation “PatIvey” has shown himself to be a formidable poker tournament specialist after winning twice and coming third in consecutive PKR Masters online poker tournaments, for a collective payout of $71,250.
The online poker phenomenon from Norkopping, has also recently won the Saturday Big Shot victory for $7,800 and the $10,000 Guaranteed Prime Time Poker tournament, and commenting on the different tournaments said:
“It’s much harder to win the Masters because there field is much larger, it’s very tough to play for around 10 hours. But it’s not easy to win the Big Shot – you have to play well and of course get the hands. But I really like to play these tournaments where you have more starting chips. You can try to bluff and don’t risk too much early on.”
When quizzed about the luck element associated with poker tournaments, and his string of recent successes, ‘PatIvey’ offered some interesting insight into his game and said:
“Of course you have to be lucky. But when I play I try not to risk all my chips on weak hands and I try to put the guys on what they have, and after that I make my play. If you have many chips it’s not wrong to be a fish and try to steal. But when you play poker tournaments you must have a combination of good play and luck. Sometimes you have that luck and sometimes you don’t, but you can always improve your own odds of winning – that’s the big clue I think.”
Congratulations to PatIvey on his PKR record and next month’s PKR Masters tournament is sure to draw some extra attention as the poker community watch to see if he can make his fourth final tables in a row.
