Loni Harwood Captures a Third Career WSOPC Title

This week, the poker world learned that Finnish pro Jens Kyllönen was looking to trade in his hugely successful career in poker for one in the finance industry. In the meantime, US pro Loni Harwood, who graduated with a degree in finance from the University of Albany in 2012, has continued to prove she is one of the best talents in the game today, and recently captured a 3rd career WSOP Circuit ring to go with the 2 WSOP bracelets she has already won.
Harwood’s latest victory was at the Palm Beach Kennel Club in Florida, where in 2012 she won her first notable score after taking down a WSOPC $345 event for $30,994. Following a victory which now pushes her live earnings to $2,070,286, Harwood tweeted:
“Crazy to think almost 5 years ago to the date I embarked on this journey and won my first live tournament here. Really am just so thankful.”
The seat of her latest success was a $365 re-entry event, which managed to attract 1,117 players to generate a prize pool of $335,100. On Day 2, Harwood subsequently entered the final table in pole position, and by the time four-handed play had been reached she controlled 70% of the chips still in play.
One hour later, the deciding hand was then played with Andrew Kelsall moving all-in preflop holding A-5, only to be called by Harwood with pocket twos. After failing to improve his hand, Kelsall had to settle for a runner-up finish worth $37,772, while Loni Harwood secured her hat-trick of WSOPC titles.
Loni Harwood’s biggest ever score came in 2013 after taking down the WSOP $1,500 No Limit Texas hold ’em event for $609,017, with her second biggest score also being a WSOP event, this time the 2015 WSOP National Championship for $341,599. Harwood is currently ranked at number 11 on the Women’s All Time Money List.
Final Table Results:
1: Loni Harwood $61,156
2: Andrew Kelsall $37,772
3: Alex Nguyen $28,068
4: Keith Labarrie $21,111
5: Frank Muir $16,075
6: Lawrence Paden $12,385
7: John Depersio $9,654
