Longyun Li Claims Poker King Cup Macau Victory
May 30, 2017 8:35 amThe Poker King Cup Macau Main Event was held at the Venetian Macau Resort & Hotel with 490 players entering the HK$16,500 (US $2,117) buy-in tournament to create a prize pool of HK$ 7,129,500 (US$914,712). By the end of four days of action, it was China’s Longyun Li who would eventually triumph over the field, including Malaysia’s Michael Soyza heads-up, to claim the title, as well as its first place prize worth H $1,225,500 ($157,259). Following his remarkable performance, a clearly delighted Longyun Li stated:
“I feel so happy to win. It’s difficult to finish first in any tournament and I’m very lucky to have won and I’d like to thank my family and friends who watched from the rail,” said a clearly elated Li.
Day 1 saw the field narrowed to just 231 competitors, all seeking to at least finish in a top 63 money spot. By the end of Day 3, the final table had then been reached, with the remaining eight players subsequently taking an overnight break before resuming the action the following day.
At this stage, Zhong Hang was the chip leader followed close behind by Longyun Li, and by the time three-handed had been reached, Li, and Hang , together with Michael Soyza, still remained in contention for the title. The latter subsequently put ane end to Zhong Hang’s run in 3rd, leaving Soyza ($US145,619) and Li (US$141,282) to agree a deal, whilst leaving a further $16,000 and the trophy for the ultimate champion.
Fifteen hands later, and the tournament was decided after a short-stacked Soya moved all-in preflop holding Q-9, and was called by Li with K-J. The board then rolled out J-3-4-A-6 to seal the victory for Longyun Li, whilst also bringing this year’s Poker King Cup Macau to a close.
