Kyle Cartwright Wins WSOPC BIloxi
August 21, 2012 10:18 amKyle Cartwright has won the World Series of Poker Circuit IP Biloxi Main Event, after defeating a field of 300 players over three days to collect a gold ring, as well as the $107,992 top prize.
With his latest victory in Mississippi, Kyle Cartwright took his live tournament earnings to an impressive $570,026, while also locking-up a record-tying fifth career WSOPC gold bracelet. Commenting on the feat, Cartwright said:
“It feels good and it hasn’t taken that long. It’s been about two years and I hope to get a lot more in the next few years. If someone gets six, I want seven. Whatever the record is, I want it.”
The $1,675 buy-in Main Event at the IP Hotel & Casino in Biloxi managed to create a prize pool worth $450,000 with 30 players getting paid. Eventually the final table was reached with Kyle Cartwright just behind Peter Shashy in pole position.
First to leave the arena was Patrick Eskander in 9th ($9,909), after shoving his pocket jacks into the pocket kings of Cartwright. As the competition progressed, Cartwright (Ad-8d) called Cory Wood’s shove from the big blind with A-2 to send him to the rail in 4th ($35,730), and 10 minutes later he was joined by John Dolan in 3rd ($48,429), whose A-J fell to Cartwright’s pocket sixes, with the board running out 2-J-10-6-K.
As the heads-up phase of the tournament got underway, Kyle Cartwright held a nearly 9 to 1 advantage over Brad Johnson and just three hands later Johnson was all-in holding Kh-7h to Cartwright’s pocket jacks. The board then rolled out A-6-3-6-4 to relegate Johnson to a runner-uo finish worth $66,744, while Kyle Cartwright took the title, plus a seat to the end of season National Championship.
The final table payouts were as follows:
