Kevin Allen Wins 2013 GUKPT Grand Final

Kevin Allen Wins 2013 GUKPT Grand Final UK pro Kevin Allen has won the 2013 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) Grand Final, after besting a field of 294 players over three days on his way to capturing the title, and collecting the £158,700 ($255,733) first-place prize.
The £2,000 buy-in Main Event took place at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London, and attracted a wide field, including some of the biggest names in UK poker, to create a prize pool worth £587,300. Also in attendance was defending 2012 GUKPT Grand Final champion Sam Grafton, but in the end the PokerPlayer writer could only manage an 11th place finish (£7,400), after which he tweeted:
“Sigh! Gl messages still coming in and I’m out in 11th! Oh well. Gave it my best shot.”
By the time the final table of nine had been reached, however, most of the marquee names had been eliminated, although Kevin Allen, Will Kassouf and Ben Jackson have all enjoyed relatively successful careers on the live poker circuit.
Incredibly, despite starting the final table on just 7bb, Kevin Allen was able to gradually chip up before then eliminating Will Kassouf in 8th (£15,600). Eventually, Allen would then progress all the way through to heads-up play where he faced-off against Rudolph Fourie.
As the heads-up battle commenced, the two players were fairly even in chips and after a two-hour battle the final hand came with Allen (Kd-Qs) and Fourie (Js-8s) all-in on a 5d-7s-9s flop. Unfortunately for Fourie, though, the turn and river failed to improve his hand and so he had to be satisfied with a runner-up finish worth £105,800, while, Kevin Allen was crowned the 2013 GUKPT Grand Final champion.
Final Result Table:
1st – £158,700 – Kevin Allen
2nd – £105,800 – Rudolph Fourie
3rd – £70,600 – Matt Davenport
4th – £41,200 – Ben Jackson
5th – £31,700 – Scott Margerson
6th – £25,900 – Richard Kellett
7th – £20,000 – Thomas Bichon
8th – £15,600 – Will Kassouf
9th – £11,100 – Pratik Ghatge
