Jude Ainsworth Wins $85k PokerStars Tourney

Irish Pro Jude “j.thaddeus” Ainsworth has won the PokerStars Super Tuesday, after overcoming a field of 441 players on his way to collecting the $84,627 top prize.
The Team PokerStars pro is a prolific online player and has a string of accolades to his credit including winning PokerStars SCOOP $10,300 Main Event for $963,338 in 2009, as well as two 3rd place finishes at PokerStars Sunday Million for $91,419 in 2008 and $194,646 in 2010.
With his latest win at PokerStars popular $1,050 buy-in Super Tuesday event Jude Ainsworth has now taken his online earnings to a massive $3,251,167, to go with the $588,624 he has already earned playing live tournaments.
Ironically, Ainsworth had been playing in the €5,300 EPT Berlin Main Event when he was eliminated and so decided to enter the online tournament from his hotel room.
Other notable players cashing along the way included Annette “Annette_15” Obrestad in 39th ($2,425), Brazil’s Caio Cesar Pimenta in 20th ($3,087) and final table bubble boy Daniel “djk123” Kelly in 10th for $5,733.
After Kelly’s elimination, Jude Ainsworth started the final table as chip leader but as players exited fell to bottom place with MeatPounder disposing of the first four finalists. Ainsworth then staged a comeback and dispatched the next four players to win the tournament, including a heads-up encounter with Hernan “HN Kakaroto” Novick which lasted 10 hands before both players flopped top pair on a 10-9-4-9-3 board but with Ainsworth’s Q-T ahead of his opponent’s T-8.
Later, a delighted Jude Ainsworth tweeted; “sweet sweet sweet won super tuesday for 85k :)”
The final table positions and payouts were as follows:
