Joseph LaPinta Wins 2013 WSOPC Harrah's Atlantic CityJoseph LaPinta has won the 2013 World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) Harrah’s Atlantic City, after besting a field of 578 players over three days on his way to capturing the title, and collecting the $182,070 first place prize.
The $1,675 Main Event was held in Atlantic City, NJ, and attracted a good-sized field to create a prize pool worth $867,000. Amongst the notable names cashing in at the event was Jeff Papola in 49th, John DiBella in 36th, Chris Tryba in 35th, Adam Teasdale in 24th, and Arkadiy Tsinis in 11th.
By the time the event reached its final table of nine, Joseph LaPinta was way behind in 8th place but managed to pick his spots well and thrive, while the other players hit the rail. Early on, however, Joseph Wertz was dealt pocket kings to eliminate Jeremy Wien (A-10) in 6th ($35,070), before Joseph LaPinta then proceeded full-steam ahead and picked-up pocket aces to dispatch the initial table leader Fabrizio Sarra to the rail in 5th ($45,977).
Joseph LaPinta subsequently eliminated all the remaining competitors from the tournament, with his next victim being Keith Donovan in 4th ($61,106), whose pocket tens falltered against LaPinta’s A-10 on an A-7-5-5-9 board. LaPinta then did likewise to John Jones in 3rd ($82,384) to herald in the heads-up phase of the tournament against Joseph Wertz.
As the final battle commenced, Joseph LaPinta held a massive chip lead and before long was able to cement his victory after Wertz (J-9) moved all-in pre-flop and was called by LaPinta with A-K. The board then rolled out A-Q-J-7-5 to consign Joseph Wertz to a runner-up finish worth $112,615, while Joseph LaPinta was crowned the 2013 WSOPC Harrah’s Atlantic City champion.
