Jonathan Duhamel Wins 2015 BPO Six-Max Event For $70,990Jonathan Duhamel is currently enjoying his most successful year since winning the WSOP Main Event back in 2010. In January, Duhamel won the PCA $5,000 Eight-Handed Event for $116,738, while in summer he captured the WSOP $111,111 One Drop High Roller event title for $3,989,985,  earning a second career gold bracelet in the process. Now the 28 year-old Canadian poker professional has just notched up a third tournament victory, taking his 2015 earnings to $4,300,890. As a result, Duhamel now boosts his live career winnings to an impressive $16,913,179, placing him at number 10 on Poker’s ‘All Time Money List’.
The seat of Duhamel’s latest triumph was the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, where 287 players bought in to the Borgata Poker Open $1,000 Six-Max No-Limit Hold’em event to create a prize pool worth $287,000. Two days is all it would then take before Duhamel saw off his last remaining opponent to claim the competition’s top prize of $70,990, after which he tweeted:
“Weeeee! Just won my first ever tournament at @BorgataPoker! 1k 6max with 287 players. Now let’s go 2 in 2 in @WPT Main Event! #funtimes”
Amongst the notable pros cashing in one of the thirty paid money spots was Aaron Mermelstein in 21st ($2,088), Michael Linster in 18th ($2,784), and Christian Harder in 12th ($3,480).
After the final table of nine got underway, Jonathan Duhamel (A-8) then took out a short-stacked George Medrano (10-7) in 8th ($7,656), while Denis Gnidash eliminated Evan Shaughnessy in 4th ($25,751), and Allen Summerville in 3rd ($32,015), to set-up heads-up against Jonathan Duhamel for the title.
As the final battle commenced, Duhamel was roughly 3.4 to 1 behind in chip, but then managed to overcome the deficit when Gnidash shoved all-in preflop holding pocket threes. Duhamel made the call with A-8, and after the dealer laid out an A-10-10-6-4 board, Gnidash had to be satisfied with a runner-up finish worth $42,176, while Duhamel was crowned the champion.
