Jerome Guermeur Triumphs At 2013 Winamax Poker Open
September 30, 2013 1:16 pmJerome Guermeur has won the Winamax Poker Open 2013, after defeating a field of 1,086 players over four days on his way to capturing the title, and collecting the €75,000 first-place-prize.
The €550 Re-Entry Main Event was held at the Regency Hotel in Dublin, and attracted a good-sized field of amateurs and pros alike to create a prize pool worth €530,511. Amongst the notable pros reaching one of the 126 money spots was such familiar names as Cyril Delaire (37th for €2,100), Yann Del Rey (33rd for €2,600), Sébastien Comel (20th for €4,000), Davidi Kitai (17th for €5,200), and Julien Ehrhardt (11th for €9,000).
By the time the final table of six had been set, still in contention were such seasoned pros as the 2-times WSOP bracelet winner Michael Gathy, and Winamax sponsored pro and November Niner Sylvain Loosli. Unfortunately for Gathy, he was the first to exit the arena in 6th for a €19,000 payday, after which Sylvain Loosli would eventually go on to face-off against Jerome Guermeur heads-up for the title.
Despite reaching a deal before heads-up commenced, the two men would still fully commit to the beauty of the sport and it wouldn’t be for another three hours until a victor was crowned. In the final hand, both players were all-in pre-flop with Sylvain Loosli’s pocket tens up against the K-J of his opponent. Unfortunately for Sylvain Loosli, the board subsequently rolled-out 3-2-2-K-8 to consign him to the runner-up spot worth €60,000. Meanwhile, Jerome Guermeur was crowned the 2013 Winamax Poker Open champion.
Final table results as follows:
1. Jerome Guermeur €75,000
2. Sylvain Loosli €60,000
3. Pierre Beriou €40,000
4. Marc Macdonnell €30,000
5. William Mauriaucourt €24,000
6. Michael Gathy €19,000
