Irish Poker Classic Qualifiers Underway

This year’s Irish Poker Classic tournament is scheduled to take place between August 10th and16th at the Macau Sporting Club in Cork, Ireland. The €1,100 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Main Event has a guaranteed prize pool of €100,000 and has always been a popular venue with the players.
Qualifiers to the tournament are now underway with Ladbrokes Poker and PaddyPowerPoker soon to join Betfair in offering online qualifiers through satellites.
Betfair Poker has been holding $80+$8 satellites every Wednesday but with qualifiers possible for as little as $2+$.20.
BoylePoker has organised a $25+$2.50 satellite for tonight and on August 4th, with one seat to a super satellite competition available for each $110 in the prize pool.
PaddyPowerPoker is set to offer a $100+$10 satellite tournament on August 5th with rebuys and add-on available.
Ladbrokes will also offer a satellite to the tournament on August 3rd at $88+$8 buy-in.
In addition to online qualification, live satellites will be held at the Macau Sporting Club, Dubin’s Sporting Emporium, Fitzwilliam Club, Emerald Casino, Clondalkin, JP Poker, Fortune Rooms, Goldclub, Atlantis Casino, Eglington Casino, Fitzpatricks Limerick, Olympus Waterford and Cue Club Killarney.
An extra incentive is available to players who register for the Irish Poker Classic with entry being gained into a Million Dollar Game freeroll with the victor battling it out against 17 other lucky players for $1 million top prize at the  WSOP Europe presented by Betfair.
Last years Irish Poker Classic attracted 169 players, which boasted such names as Annette Obrestad, Michael Greco, Ian Woodley, Roy Brindley, Marty Smyth, Jeff Duval, Sylvester Geoghegan and Mick McCloskey. Rob Taylor was the eventually winner and picked up $64,877. With the growing popularity of this tournament officials are expecting this year’s field to be in excess of 200.
