Harvey Vandeven Triumph At CPPT Jacksonville Main Event

Harvey Vandeven Triumph At CPPT Jacksonville Main EventHarvey Vandeven has won the Card Player Poker Tour (CCPT) Jacksonville main event, after besting a field of 225 players on his way to capturing the title, and collecting the $76,598 first place prize. Following his victory at the $1,500 buy-in event held in Jacksonille, Florida, the construction company owner commented:
“Poker is a hobby for me so getting to play and compete with guys that play every day is really challenging and I had to get a little lucky to survive against these guys. It feels really good and that is why I play. For the challenge of winning.”
By the time the final table of nine got underway, Belal Assi was ahead as the chip leader (1.2m), followed by T.K. Miles (981k), and Rick Swain (831k), with Harvey Vandeven in 4th spot on a 552k stack.
Vandeven (8-8) then proceeded to eliminate Yi Li (A-8) in 5th for $19,622, before being dealt J-J and doing likewise to Richard Swain (8-7) in 3rd ($37,868) to go heads-up against T.K. Miles for the title.
At the beginning of heads-up play, Harvey Vandeven held a 3.73m to 1.41m chip advantage over Miles, but rather than battle it out for the $96,395 top prize, the two players, instead, decided to chop up the remaining prize fund equally at $76,598 apiece, with T.K. Miles agreeing to concede the CCPT Jacksonville main event title to his opponent.
Commenting at the end of the four hour final table, Harvey Vandeven, said: “The final table was great. It’s very nice was well run and well put on. We had a great time and the final table as a bunch of good guys, we were playing poker and having a great time and just forgetting about the money.”
