Greg Jennings Wins 2015 HPT Kansas City For $118,560Greg Jennings has won the 2015 Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) Ameristar Kansas, after overcoming a field of 363 players on his way to capturing the title, as well as its $118,560 first place prize. Following his biggest score to date, which surpasses the $22,021 he won for a fifth place finish at this year’s WSOP Iowa main event, the local businessman now pushes his poker winnings to $289,908.
The $1,650 HPT Main Event was held at the Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City, and created a prize pool worth $515,460. On the last day of action, the final table of nine featured a number of notable pros, including Aaron Massey, Stan Jablonski, Joseph Brown, and Matt Bond.
Greg Jennings (A-9) then called Matt Bond’s (K-10) preflop re-raise all-in, and after the board came out A-4-2-4-8 Bond was eliminated in 6th place for $19,845. Jennings (A-K) followed up by doing likewise to Justin Young (A-7) in 5th ($25,515), and not long later Greg Jennings (A-Q) took care of Aaron Massey (6-6) in 4th for $33,763.
Eventually, Stan Jablonski (J-J) dispatched Joey Brown (A-9) to the rail in 3rd ($48,711) to usher in heads-up play against Jennings for the HPT title.
As the final battle commenced, Stan Jablonski held an 8m to 2.93m chip advantage over his remaining opponent, but soon after Jablonski (Ks-4s) called Jennings (7d-6d) all-in shove on a Kd-10d-5d-7c board to double him up. The deciding hand was then played with Jablonski (8-7o) bluffing all-in on a 10d-5s-2s-Js-3s. Jennings made the call with 10s-4h, and so Stan Jablonski finished the runner-up for a $73,195 payday, whilst Greg Jennings was crowned the 2015 HPT Kansas champion.
